MODULAR STACKING MUG SYSTEM

Hospitality-Oriented Mug & Coaster Concept Validated Through Physical Prototyping

Focus
Stacking Logic, Hygienic Storage, Mold Design, Prototype Validation

This self-initiated mug concept was developed in response to a common hospitality problem: mugs in breakfast areas are often stacked loosely, misaligned, or left open to dust when stored upright.

The project explores a modular mug and coaster geometry that can be stacked in multiple orientations — upright, inverted, and in stable tower or pyramid arrangements.

The concept was first evaluated in CAD, then validated through a 3D-printed mold and physical casting tests using Raysin 100.

Preparing the mold, pouring the material and demolding the prototypes helped confirm the stacking logic and provided practical feedback on form, tolerances and usability.

Step-by-Step Prototyping •

A 3D-printed mold was used to test the geometry, casting process and stacking behavior beyond the CAD model.
